"Ferragosto in the hills" with typical dishes and Oltrepò Pavese sunsets

For those who want to escape the city and retreat to the hills, tomorrow Pietra de' Giorgi offers traditional dishes, live music, and breathtaking views. "Ferragosto in collina" (August 15th in the hills) takes place from 8:00 pm in Piazza Unità d'Italia, where, as the sun sets over the hills, you can enjoy traditional dishes such as ravioli, roast coppa with potatoes, water, wine, and coffee. A full dinner is available for €20; reservations are required. Live music by Davide Mauri will provide engaging entertainment. A bar and grill will be open throughout the evening. Pietra de' Giorgi, one of the pearls of the Oltrepò Pavese, is famous for its vineyards. The tradition of Ferragosto has its roots in ancient harvest festivals, when rural communities gathered to celebrate the fruits of the earth and strengthen social bonds. Once work in the fields was done, it was time to celebrate. Today, in addition to "Ferragosto in collina," visitors will be able to enjoy breathtaking views with the vineyards as a backdrop. Some wineries are open for tastings.
